Siemens’ Desigo Building Automation System
In 2018, representatives from the German-based industrial manufacturing giant Siemens AG approached Black Diamond Solutions to develop technology to support its state-of-the-art building automation system called Desigo. Using the BDS Smart Network 4 Button, the Black Diamond team designed a four-button power over Ethernet (POE) device for use in school classrooms that can trigger a Desigo notification.
When pushed, each button on the unit provides an immediate situational notification which gets the correct help the quickest, whether it be to first responders in the event of an emergency or to quickly summon an administrator as well as other personnel to a classroom. In addition to classrooms in public schools, the Desigo notification system driven by Black Diamond Solutions technology can also be implemented in college classrooms, corporate offices, laboratories, hospitals and healthcare facilities, and manufacturing plants, just to name a few.
The Smart Network 4 Button used in the Desigo system is powered by POE for simple, single Ethernet cable installation or an external power supply for Wi-Fi installation. Owing to its many options, the Black Diamond team can tailor the Smart Network 4 Button to meet a wide variety of commercial applications and system integration can be done quickly and easily through its built-in Wi-Fi configuration menu. Installation requires a network Ethernet cable with POE or a 120v outlet when using a Wi-Fi connection.
